Let this be a formal introduction for those of you who have been living under a rock for the past five years! Remember the name Dedrick Crocklem; a 20-year old boxing phenom from Tacoma, Washington by way of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Managed by entertainment guru and boxing mastermind James Prince (J Prince), and co-promoted by Antonio Leonard, Dedrick “Yung Hitta” Crocklem has been on a tear in the amateur boxing world and on Friday, Jan. 10th, he made his professional debut in a four round bout with Nesly Trezile in front of his hometown fans at Emerald Queen Casino EQC Fight Night presented by Toro Promotions Inc.
A seven-time national amateur champion, Crocklem stepped into the ring fresh off of inking a long-term promotional contract with Top Rank. At just 20-years old, Crocklem came into his debut confident, energetic, and fiery with a skillset very unique for such a young fighter to possess at such an early in his career. Dedrick “Yung Hitta” Crocklem didn’t disappoint. As the night grew, show time finally came and Dedrick wasted no time as he approached the ring wearing a red pullover, a facial mask, and red shorts with the two logos representing Skorpions Grill and Bomb Shelter Boxing club in Tacoma. Crocklem’s opponent, Nesley Tresile (1-1, 0 KOs) came into the bout as a 5’8″ orthodox fighter from Port-au-Prince, Haiti fighting out of Inglewood, California.
From the opening bell, Dedrick Crocklem came out swinging with a controlled, but fierce borage of combinations clearly marking his dominance. It was evident from jump street that Tresile was in for a long night. Crocklem was relentless with the attack sending Tresile into the ropes in the first round. The second round was much of the same until the :46 second mark when Crocklem unleashed a round of punches rendering the KO. The victory symbolizes a great start and the birth of a career that’s sure to be filled with top purses, class advances, and the notoriety that follows.
From bringing home the Gold after winning the U.S. Olympic Team Trials just last December, it seems all Dedrick Crocklem (1-0, 1 KOs) do is WIN. Friday night was epic, and surely one that will always stay with the “Yung Hitta”. The fans in Tacoma, Washington and the World couldn’t have been more proud. S/O to Dedrick Crocklem and the team -coach @famoneysports and @fresh_150 . The entire card was a great night for the sport overall, with the Main Event featuring Kingsley Ibeh (15-2-1, 12 KOs), vs. Scott Alexander (17-9-2, 9 KOs), with Ibeh winning the Vacant – WBC Latino title. In addition, in the Super Featherweights match, Austin Brooks (13-0-1, 6 KOs), retained the WBA Continental title vs. Rosalindo Morales (10-2, 2 KOs)
