Los Angeles rapper and internet personality Trevor Hurd, widely known as Crip Mac, has been released from custody after serving a 33-month federal prison sentence.
Hurd, now 33, completed his two-year-and-nine-month sentence this week and was initially released from federal prison on January 30. However, he was briefly detained in Los Angeles County Jail on a “flash hold” related to a probation violation before being released again.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed that Hurd was sentenced after pleading guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition.
According to federal prosecutors, Hurd was found in September in possession of a handgun without a serial number, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun”, along with 10 rounds of ammunition. While a Los Angeles County judge later agreed to drop state gun charges, the case was transferred to federal authorities, resulting in his conviction and sentence.
Court records indicate Hurd has been arrested on felony charges five times since 2014 and has at least one prior conviction. Previous charges listed in the indictment include two arrests for being a felon in possession of a firearm, attempted second-degree armed robbery, grand theft, and transportation of a controlled substance.
Following his release, videos circulated online showing Hurd back in his Los Angeles neighborhood, proclaiming that the “55th Street General” had returned home. He has already begun appearing in street interviews and social media clips, signaling a potential return to the online persona that built his following. In addition, we are sure his first order of business will be spending time with his daughter Cah’lani.
Crip Mac rose to prominence through viral videos and interviews that showcased his unfiltered personality, neighborhood affiliations, and community-centered efforts, including charitable outreach often described by supporters as “feeding the hood.”

With significant online buzz surrounding his release, many observers expect Hurd to quickly resume his career as a digital content creator and rapper. Media figures, including podcast host Adam22 of No Jumper and commentator Milk74, have publicly discussed the possibility of hosting him for interviews.
While his next steps remain unclear, Hurd’s return has already generated widespread attention across social media platforms, marking a new chapter following his federal sentence.
