In a musical era often dominated by algorithms and short-form hits, Sami dares to slow the tempo—and the noise—with Too Many Days Since Then, her debut EP released March 28th, 2025. With just six tracks, the project unfolds like a diary cracked open mid-thought—raw, poetic, and unmistakably personal. Anchored by the soul-stirring standout single “Soul Tied”, the EP marks not only a pivotal moment in Sami’s career but also a quietly powerful return to R&B’s foundational truths. Crafted during the stillness of the pandemic, the project was born out of reflection.
“Around the time I began working on this record, production on the Netflix sitcom I was doing with Jamie Foxx was on hold due to quarantine. That pause gave me space to process some emotional baggage and pour my entire self into the music” Sami recalls.
Deep Dive Into The EP’s Tracklist
The result is a body of work that feels timeless yet emotionally urgent. The EP opens with the brief but poignant “You’ll Never Know (Intro)”, a 97-second whisper of what’s to come. It’s followed by “Wave”, originally released in 2023, a track that blends subtle vocal layering and minimalist production into something heartbreakingly immersive.
2024’s “MFEO” (Made For Each Other) reappears with new resonance, serving as a thematic linchpin in the project’s emotional progression. It’s here that Sami begins to hint at the tension between longing and self-preservation. In doing so, setting up perfectly for “Somebody I Used to Know”, a cutting, cathartic breakup anthem that bridges the internal with the universal.
Then comes “Soul Tied”, the EP’s crown jewel. Written with Mayila Jones and executive produced by Grammy-winning platinum producer Brian “Killah B” Bates—fresh off his Album of the Year win for Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter—the track is a masterclass in restraint and release. With sweeping string arrangements, rich chord progressions, and a vocal performance that evokes both vulnerability and strength, the song captures what it means to grieve a love that shaped you.
“That man is so free with how he creates. He’s never defined by genre. He’s a creative genius, and I knew it from the moment I tapped him in a session years ago” Sami says of Brian.
Drawing on her background in classical opera, Sami effortlessly blends orchestral textures, heavy keys, and 808s to create a sound that feels both expansive and intimate. She calls Soul Tied “the most classic R&B record on the EP”. A sonic and emotional anchor that highlights the project’s dedication to authenticity in a genre increasingly driven by virality. With that being said, the album closes with “Empty Promises (Outro)”, a track that ties together the EP’s emotional throughline while leaving room for reflection. There’s no forced resolution, no overproduced climax—just the quiet resonance of lived experience.
