Tiger Woods is making his much-anticipated return to golf following his back surgery, according to an announcement made earlier this week by the PGA Tour. The golf legend will be participating in the PNC Championship, an annual family-oriented tournament, where he is set to compete alongside his son, Charlie Woods. This event marks Woods’ first competitive appearance since his surgery, and fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting his performance.

The PNC Championship holds a special place for Woods, as it allows him to showcase his bond with his son while still competing at a high level. The duo has played in the event before, drawing attention not just for their skills but also for their close dynamic.

This appearance signals a promising step in Woods’ recovery and will be an exciting highlight in the golfing calendar. The PNC Championship will take place Dec. 19-22, 2024, at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, Grande Lakes.

Tiger Woods’ last competitive golf appearance was at The Open Championship in July 2022, held at the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. It was a significant event for Woods, as St. Andrews is considered the “Home of Golf” and holds deep personal and historical importance for him. However, it was a challenging outing; Woods missed the cut after rounds of 78 and 75, ending his tournament early.

Prior to that, Woods also competed in the 2022 Masters and the PGA Championship, which marked his return to major tournaments after his February 2021 car accident that left him with severe leg injuries. At the Masters, he made the cut and finished 47th, a remarkable feat given the extent of his injuries. However, at the PGA Championship, he withdrew after three rounds due to physical discomfort, highlighting the ongoing struggles with his recovery.

Woods has been selective with his appearances since his accident, focusing on events with personal significance or lower physical demand. His return to the PNC Championship, a relaxed format allowing the use of carts, aligns well with his gradual reintroduction to competitive play.
